Since 2021, Conneqtr has been building digital solutions for the construction industry. 'Smooth' eliminates paperwork on site deliveries, and 'Zen', the online platform, won the Smart Solution Award at the Belgian Construction Awards (BCA) in December. But there's more to come — Zen keeps evolving.
Zen has become the standard for verifying compliance on construction sites, ensuring everyone entering the site has all legally required documents in order. Now deployed across more than 3,200 Belgian construction sites, the platform validates basic safety certificates, due diligence obligations, social security registrations, and other mandatory documents in real time. Since 2026, verification goes beyond individuals — extending to the level of company-specific documents.
Until recently, Zen was mainly used to streamline the exchange of personal documents (such as ID, Limosa, and VCA). Now, company-level documents — from safety to contracts and projects — are part of the platform as well.
Suppose you want to collaborate as a main contractor with a subcontractor for a specific construction site. In Zen, you can see at a glance whether this company is compliant with all required company-level documents. Is there a signed contract? Do they have a VCA certificate? Are the safety documents in place? Everything can be easily found in one place.
TM ROCO, working on the Oosterweel project:
"It’s a win-win for both parties. We greatly value our subcontractors who use Zen."
Houben:
"Zen bridges the gap between main contractor and subcontractor data — now also at the level of company-specific documents."
“Anyone working in the construction sector knows that missing documents or mistakes can lead to fines, legal issues, or delays,” says Conneqtr CEO Steven Everaert. “This major level-up in Zen ensures an even higher level of compliance across construction projects. And another major benefit for the industry? We reduce the risk in managing contractors: management gains far greater visibility into compliance with company documents and requirements across (sub)contractors.”
In addition, VCA certificates at company level are automatically imported. Companies can instantly see whether an organization is VCA-certified, which type of certificate it has, and for which activities it applies.
The goal of Zen is to make administration and compliance manageable for every contractor and subcontractor. With this advancement in Zen, even more data becomes visible at a glance. It helps construction companies cut through the chaos of documents and administrative tasks, regardless of company size. And the time that’s freed up can simply be spent on what the industry is really about: building.
